The most persuasive of three models of attorney-client relationship Essay While in the attorney-client relationship, lawyers face three obligations in performance. First, they must assume the duty of fully investigating a client’s case.  Lawyers should seek out all relevant acts. This information is necessary to provide the client with an effective counsel. The second duty is zealous client advocacy. These duties are sometimes at odds with the third duty which is the obligation of lawyers to the court. All active lawyers are officers of the court and therefore, hold certain responsibilities.            It has been argued that only two of the above three obligations can be met at any given time.  Dean Freeman is quoted as saying, â€Å"To convert the defendant’s only champion into yet another member of the state’s legions seems an unnecessary and offensive step.†           The first and second obligations are in place to insure zealous advocacy; and the third is essential for lawyers to participate in the judicial system as it is designed. (Retrieved on 11/17/06 from source: http://www.findarticles.com/p/articles/mi_qa3975/is_200207/ai_n9119407)            The ABA has promulgated three model codes of lawyers since 1908. The Canons of Ethics in 1908 was first. This established many rules and codes that are still in effect today. One thing the Canons did was to ban lawyers from advertising, except in the case of handing out business cards.            The Canons were the ABA’s direct response to President Roosevelt’s 1905 criticism of lawyers as â€Å"hired Cunning†, or, those who, for lucrative fees, undermined the public interest by their representation of corporation and wealthy individuals. These Cannons were adopted and were the legal profession’s authoritative statement of how a lawyer should act. This element of confidentiality is the duty I hold most important. The Canons of 1908 set the premise of trust in the minds of the general, lawyer seeking public. Attorneys can be more persuasive to their clients in regards to gaining their trust, if the client knows their secrets will be kept and confidentiality is firmly in place.             The American Bar Association Model Code of Professional Responsibility was created in 1969. This was a set of professional standards intended to guarantee the minimum legal ethics and responsibility of lawyers in the U.S. It was ultimately replaced with the Model Rules of Professional Conduct after the Watergate scandal.            While I do feel all three model codes are important, the Canons are most persuasive in my book as they lay a firm base for what is expected from today’s lawyers: Confidentiality, competence, honesty, loyalty and client’s access to progress through exchange of information. Influential Tube :: Essays Papers
Influential Tube Time has brought about a new past time for this generation of children. Within the grab bag of talk shows, one has surfaced to be the most talked about and harshly recognized. The infamous Jerry Springer Show. The Jerry Springer Show has perfected the ability to taint our airways with unfavorable materials. The show could have a damaging effect on children because it contains the ingredients that can influence them to adopt the unacceptable behaviors of its guests. Many mature viewers, unlike children that feel the show is a great source of entertainment, see that the guests are being exploited for rating and revenue purposes. Jerry Springer, the host of his self-titled talk show, joins his guests in using obscene language and distasteful phrases. Their choice of words can range from the cruel to vulgar and implied to the bold and direct. In this atmosphere, the quests attire and appearance somehow seem to perfectly match their harsh language. From the initial dashing entrance, towards the audience or previous guest, to the last blow of the show’s air, one witnesses an ongoing process of public humiliation. The behaviors of the show’s instigating host and untamed quests are embarrassing. In the battlefield of bleeps and permitted obscenities, nothing is being said or heard; in the midst of the blind-sided licks, object-tosses, and kicks, nothing is being resolved. Rather than the show being entertaining, it becomes more unbearable as it progresses. If I was privileged to ask the Springer Show producer one question, it would be, â€Å"Does the show have an audience?†The â€Å"gladiators†of the show seemed to be cued as to when to make an appearance from the â€Å"audience†, in which seems like rejected panel guests. They are full of rage at the panel’s comments, lifestyle, and/or behavior so they try to reach and beat â€Å"their†understanding into the face of a defensive guest, ready for battle. With these actions being far from funny and closer to ridiculous, the â€Å"gladiators†are shadowed by the comedic half of the â€Å"audience†who’s purpose is to laugh at all the actions of the show and occasionally crack a sour joke over the host’s hand held microphone. When all seems to fail and energy is at crucial levels, for ratings sake, the â€Å"power suppliers†come to the rescue. They are the portions of the audience that feed the show its energy.

Proper nutrition is essential for the long-term health of children. A healthy diet helps protect against all forms of malnutrition that can lead to nutrient deficiencies, obesity, diabetes, and other chronic disease. (1a) Giving a child a supportive and adequate nutritional start has a positive impact on their not only their physical development but also their mental and social development (1). A study completed in 2013 investigated the intake of 5200 5th grade student and tested their academic abilities. This study found that students with a higher intake of vegetables and lower caloric intake of fat were significantly less likely to perform poorly on academic assessments. The percentage of obesity in America has been steadily increasing. From 1980-2008 the prevalence of obesity in the U.S. more than doubled among adults and more than tripled among children (6). Even though children are consuming adequate or excessive food calories, they are not meeting the federal Dietary Guidelines for Americans. (9a) Food insecurity and childhood obesity combined implicate future consequences for children. Overweight and obese children face long and short term complications: chronic inflammation, cardiovascular disease, type 2 diabetes, metabolic syndrome, mental health disorders, lower self-esteem, and underachievement in school and even increased mortality (10). National School Meal Feeding Programs Children who eat well, preform better in class and have a greater opportunity to succeed in school.
